Good Shepherd K9 Values
1. Care for Every Dog
We believe every dog deserves to be treated as an individual and cared for with patience, compassion, and respect. We consider each dog's age, abilities, needs, temperament, and goals so that exercise is productive, positive, and appropriate.
2. Safety First
The well-being of the dog always comes before convenience, speed, or profit. We maintain a safe environment, use equipment responsibly, recognize the limits of our expertise, and will never knowingly put a dog at unnecessary risk.
3. Integrity in Everything
We will be honest with our clients, transparent about what we can and cannot provide, and trustworthy in every interaction. We will do what we say we will do and make decisions based on what is best for the dog—not simply what is best for the business.
4. Pursue Excellence
Good enough isn't our goal. We are committed to continuing education, improving our knowledge of canine fitness and conditioning, maintaining clean and professional facilities, and continually looking for better ways to serve dogs and their owners.
5. Make Healthy Living Easier
We believe caring for a dog shouldn't have to be complicated. Many dogs need more physical and mental activity than their owners realize, but busy lives can make providing it difficult. We exist to make meaningful exercise convenient and achievable so owners can give their dogs more of what they need to thrive.
6. Serve Beyond Ourselves
We believe our business should be a means of serving others, not simply generating profit. As we grow, we will give back through financial support, service, and partnerships with organizations that care for people, veterans, and dogs in need.
7. Follow the Good Shepherd
Our business is built on a Christian foundation. The name Good Shepherd reflects both our love for shepherd breeds and our faith in Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd who guides, protects, and cares for His people. We seek to operate this business in a way that reflects His character—serving others, acting with integrity, caring for His creation, and using what we have been given to make a positive difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is canine conditioning?
Conditioning is the systematic improvement of a dog's physical fitness, strength, and endurance through progressive exercise designed to meet their individual needs.
What is a slatmill?
A slatmill is a specialized non-motorized treadmill designed for dogs. It provides a controlled, low-impact environment for exercise, allowing for precise monitoring of movement and effort.
Is a slatmill safe for dogs?
Yes, safety is our highest priority. We use high-quality, non-slip surfaces and provide constant supervision to ensure a secure and comfortable experience for all dogs.
What dogs are appropriate for slatmill exercise?
Slatmill exercise can be appropriate for many healthy dogs when the exercise is properly matched to their age, size, fitness level, and physical condition. For puppies and younger dogs whose growth plates are still developing, we carefully control the duration, intensity, and pace of exercise to avoid excessive impact or fatigue while supporting healthy development.
For mature dogs, exercise can be adjusted to build endurance, strength, mobility, and overall fitness. Every dog is evaluated individually, and we adjust or stop exercise whenever a dog shows signs that they need a break. Dogs with existing health or orthopedic concerns may need veterinary clearance before participating.
Can puppies participate?
Yes, we offer a 4-session (once per week) puppy package specifically designed for age-appropriate physical development and confidence-building in a safe, encouraging environment.
How do I prepare my dog for their session?
No meals 2 hours before the session, and then 1 hour after their session. We provide a simple pre-session checklist to help owners prepare for a positive and productive experience.
How long are sessions?
Our initial sessions are 40 minutes long. We also offer 8-session conditioning programs and 6-week puppy packages for more comprehensive fitness development.
Can multiple dogs participate?
Yes, we offer multi-dog household discounts. We ensure that each dog receives individualized attention and that the environment is safe and clean for all participants.
What should my dog bring?
Your dog should be wearing a collar. We provide all exercise gear.
How do I book a session?
You can book your dog's session directly through our MoeGo client portal. We recommend scheduling at least 48 hours in advance to secure your preferred time.
